About

The Work is an Intentional Movement based Pilates studio. Pulling together from many Lineages and movement study backgrounds to form a practice that is grounded in tradition while evolving to best fit the needs of our clients, It is our goal to bring ease and joy of movement to all the bodies that walk through The Work’s door.

McKenna Mendoza is the studio owner. coming from a dance background at Arizona State, Classical Pilates became a fundamental addition to her routine. she found the work deepened body awareness, provided strength, flexibility and grounding. ultimately, connecting to Fletcher Pilates. The precision of the movements, choreographed sequences and emphasis on breath are what drew her in. After graduating, she continued her education at the Ron Fletcher Comprehensive Program of Study in Tucson, Arizona.

There she completed The 1000 hour training program to be a Professional Fletcher teacher. Shortly after she opened her first studio in Phoenix, Arizona. NOW RESIDing IN LOS ANGELES, with her CURRENT STUDIO “THE WORK”.

“Always learning, always growing, I’ve continued in both avenues through various forms of healing and movement modalities. IN ADDITION TO PILATES, I INCORPORATE MY STUDIES OF YOGA, REIKI, MEDITATION, BREATH WORK AND HERBALISM TO MY SESSIONS. ALL SESSIONS ARE CATERED TO THE INDIVIDUAL BASED ON THEIR SPECIFIC DESIRES AND NEEDS.

SERvices

Fletcher Pilates: Fletcher Pilates was founded by Ron Fletcher. He was one of a few master teachers whom studied directly under Joseph Pilates. He was well know for adding the depth of breath to the pilates work. He also trained in Martha Graham's dance company for many years. Her modern dance influence Alongside the breath and precision of movement are all notable components. 

Herbs: Medicinal plants used to treat ailments as well as maintain health. Various different herbs can be used to treat anxiety, depression, auto immune disease, provide energy or a good night's sleep and more. 

yoga: Shivakali is an aligned vinyasa flow with focus on the science of yoga and centered around the ideal of bodhichitta. I have studied various forms OF MEDITATION, MANTRA, KRIYAS AND ASANA. all working together TO STRENGTHEN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM AND RAISE CONSCIOUS awareness.
